The M4 has reopened after an earlier crash closed the road in both directions.

Both eastbound and westbound carriageways were closed between J16 Swindon West and J17 Chippenham over the lunch period.

Wiltshire Police have said five vehicles collision were involved.

Emergency services attended the scene and one woman trapped in her car was released and taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath with minor injuries.

The road reopened at 2.20pm.

Heavy delays were experienced in and around the area, particularly in Royal Wootton Bassett following the closure of Dauntsey bridge.

Police in Chippenham said traffic was flowing freely on the A4, but traffic delays are being reported in the Marlborough area.
