A pensioner who is said to have sexually abused a girl in a village near Melksham in the early 1980s is to face trial.
Raymond McDermid, 66, pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault and indecency with a child when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.
McDermid, who now lives in Slough, Berkshire, is said to have carried out the offences against the girl in Whitley in 1981 or 1982.
Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to Monday, September 8, and released McDermid on unconditional bail until then.
