40 jobs to be created by Trowbridge's new Frankie & Benny’s restaurant

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Family restaurant Frankie & Benny’s will create 40 jobs when it opens at St Stephens Place Leisure Park, Trowbridge, on April 26 Family restaurant Frankie & Benny’s will create 40 jobs when it opens at St Stephens Place Leisure Park, Trowbridge, on April 26

Family restaurant Frankie & Benny’s will create 40 jobs when it opens at St Stephens Place Leisure Park, Trowbridge, on April 26.

The chain will be the third restaurant at the £17m complex, which also has an Odeon cinema, Nandos, Prezzo and Premier Inn. It opened in October last year.

Job interviews are under way, and Ruby Hawley, Frankie & Benny’s senior area marketing co-ordinator, said there had been a good response from the area.

Another new restaurant coming to St Stephens Place is Dean’s Diner which has applied to Wiltshire Council for licensing permission with a decision expected next month.

This is good news. All the existing eateries plus the Odeon seems to be packing in the punters.

As I have said previously; it is good service, good value and competition that will decide who the winners and losers are. The customer is king and all these businesses are in competition for our custom and cash.

In light of this and the head start that St Stephens has got on the Bowyers site, questions are bound to be asked. More so in light of the revealed financial problems that Morrisons now have.

It will all come out in the wash and competition for our custom.

You do talk utter rubbish Brandx. Sainsburys have just posted a reduction in sales too. Morrisons have commited to and will build in Trowbridge and they will have the advantage of having a petrol station too. In fact their most profitable stores are the ones with petrol stations.
All of these supermarkets including Tescos have been hit by Aldi and Lidl if you read the reports. Also, Morrisons are the last to develop home delivery which they are rolling out this year. Rather than being defeatist, i suggest you think out of the box for once

Thank you, AMVanquish007. Far from being defeatist, I am simply saying that competition will be the decider.

Great - only took six months to open, but at least it's another unit filled. And another signing .. Dean's Diner .. hmmmmm a quick check on the internet reveals that this is a Hot Dog & Burger Diner.

I know it's best not to be choosy in a situation where half the units are empty, but some variety would be nice .. we currently have Italian (Premier Inn), Italian (Prezzo), Frankie & Benny's (Italian/American Diner), Portuguese (Nandos), and Dean's Diner (American Diner).

Something like a Harvester would go down a treat - a nice English Steak/Grill House.

Unless they have changed their final planning application, I am pretty sure that the Petrol Station was no longer included!

Wake up Jonny Boy!!!

It was stated in the appeal that they can transfer the petrol station (reserve application) over onto the appealed scheme.

Because the reserve application was approved with a petrol station, it means that the land, has planning approval for a petrol station.

As for empty units at SSP, this is because restaurants were waiting for the result of the Innox Riverside appeal.

You will see that Innox Riverside will have a flurry of restaurants confirmed over the coming months. I understand interest is VERY HIGH.

Wake up? About what? I have no axe to grind about either development , more the merrier as far as I am concerned, but it is a fact that whilst the petrol station was in the reserve application and was approved, it is not in the current plans and until Innox amend these plans, which might or might not happen, a petrol station will not be getting built as things currently stand unless you know otherwise

I do know otherwise. At the hearing the developer stated that they wish to add the petrol station to the scheme, considering the land already has planning granted for a petrol station, it was agreed by all parties that this can happen.

It's a transfer of existing planning approval.

Innox development bods really do need to update their website, even if its just a news flash.
Im not looking for a complete redesign. All I wish for is that they acknowledgment what has been agreed at the hearing and document it so there is no miss understanding for the good people of Trowbridge who have fought long and hard for this to happen.

In reply to Jonny, as D@ve said, the petrol station will be a part of the scheme at Innox Riverside. In terms of procedures it will mean a small re application but as mentioned at the appeal there wont be any opposition to the transfer because its already passed and in the same position as on the 2nd reserve application.

Another unit filled and one more on the way - brilliant news for the SSP development.

Sounds like the plans for Riverside are getting good as well. I was corrected on a recent report about the viability for two cinemas in Trowbridge all I am concerned about now is .....

All these units - I hope there is enough demand in Trowbridge and the surrounding areas that are going to use them - it sounds like it if the numbers that Vanquish said are correct.

Stallard Street - Lets hope someone with a modicum of sense plans the new road layout - it is terrible at the moment on the end of bythesea road and I dread to think what will happen with the new layout if people don't think it through properly - I know there was something about making sure this was considered

Finally - Applegreen and The Shires - I fear for the future of the petrol station but this can only be good for the shires and shires gateway - maybe the empty units in there will be filled as well - could be really good..
