Headteacher Lorraine Colquhoun is delighted her school has boosted the coffers of our Give Us A Chance appeal by more than £130.
Rowde Academy teaching assistant Jo Harper and Year 5 pupil Evie Harcourt-Cooze worked together to put on a cake sale to raise money for Devizes Opportunity Centre.
Mrs Colquhoun said: “I am really delighted the school has been able to be involved in the appeal.
“It was the idea of our teaching assistant Jo and Evie, who is leaving the school as her family are re-locating.
“She had wanted to do something for charity before she left and Jo had read about the appeal in the Gazette.
“The opportunity centre does a fantastic job and really makes a difference to children’s lives.
“The manager Betty Newman is a very special person and does so much to help the children and their whole families.”
Parents and pupils were encouraged to bake cakes and they were sold at break and after school on Monday and Tuesday. All the cakes sold out and a total of £130.58 was raised.
