TO mark National Apprenticeship Week Marlborough-based Haddon Training is encouraging young people to look at the schemes they have to offer.
The work-based training organisation was established in 2001 by Chris Hewlett and has built up an outstanding reputation throughout the equine industry.
They offer a number of specialist apprentices in a range of discipline including dressage, eventing, show-jumping, racing, polo and general horse care.
Toni Vaughan moved from Liverpool to work with one of the Queen’s racehorse trainers, Richard Hannon, at his yard in Marlborough.
While working she is training for a BHEST level 3 diploma in racehorse care and management.
Since starting, the 22-year-old has looked after horses including Olympic Glory, ridden by Frankie Dettori.
She is proud of meeting the Queen at Ascot races last year.
On a typical day she will muck out five stables and groom and ride horses.
Haddon Training has 43 apprentices from Wiltshire. Employers range from top racing stables to riding schools. For details visit www.haddontraining.co.uk
