Heroes and villains will be the theme of the third Christian Malford scarecrow trail, to be held at the end of this month.

There are already 40 scarecrows planned for the trail around the village, which starts at the recreation ground and takes place over the weekend of March 29 and 30, from 10am to 4pm.

Those who complete the trail have the chance of a £100 prize, and the first 50 entrants each day will receive a goody bag.

It is organised and run by Acorns Pre-school and Friends of the school, with all proceeds split equally between the two organisations.

Last year’s event raised more than £580 despite the wet weather.

Laura Sidhu, on the pre-school committee, said: “The trail’s become a firm favourite in the village with a lot of the local community getting involved either building scarecrows, helping serve refreshments or just bringing their families along to enjoy the trail.

“The organisers put a lot of work in to make this event a success, for the benefit of the school and pre school, but also to bring together the community to enjoy a lovely weekend.”

There will be hot and cold refreshments, bacon rolls, hot dogs, cakes, bouncy castle, children’s games and face painting.

Any businesses who would like to supply small promotional items for goody bags, such as pens, balloons and keyrings, are asked to email laura.sidhu@sky.com or call 07808081969.
