Three stable staff from Marlborough have won awards at the tenth Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards, which took place at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge this week.
Tony Gorman and Maxine Ledger, both from Richard Hannon’s stables in Marlborough, and Marbeth Blair, at Brian Meehan’s stables in Marlborough, won awards in recognition of their hard work caring for horses.
Tony Gorman, head lad, won the Leadership Award, Maxine Ledger won the Dedication to Racing Award and Marbeth Blair, office manager, was awarded the Administration Staff Award. They received their awards from TV presenter Clare Balding and 18-time Champion Jump Jockey AP McCoy at the glittering event hosted by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA).
Mr Gorman and Ms Ledger were each presented with a cheque for £10,000, of which £5,000 will be shared among the staff at Richard Hannon’s stables. Ms Blair also received £10,000, with £5,000 of this going to Brian Meehan’s yard.
