Last Sunday evening I had the pleasure of attending another commissioning service for new street pastors in Chippenham.
The commitment and dedication shown by them to the safety of our local communities is truly inspirational.
They now play a vital part in community safety and their work is recognised by both local councils and the police.
We continue to see a growing number of volunteer-led schemes contributing towards safety such as Community Speed Watch, Lorry Watch, Neighbourhood Watch and also the key role of specials within the police force.
As the portfolio holder for public protection at Wiltshire Council, I would like to thank all of our volunteers who continue to give up their spare time to help improve the safety and quality of our communities.
Coun Peter J Hutton, Wiltshire Council.
