Staff and residents who live and work at the Ferfoot Care Home in Chippenham are celebrating the success of activities co-ordinator Leigh Carter, who was nominated as a finalist in the National Dementia Awards.
Leigh attended a gala celebration in Nottingham which paid tribute to excellence in dementia care. She was selected for her innovative approach to the dementia- friendly activities she provides. She has also been instrumental in the launch of a new ‘five a day’ initiative of providing activities which always meet either social, emotional, cognitive, sensory or physical needs as part of care at the home in Old Hardenhuish Lane.
Ferfoot manager Nicki Stone said: “Leigh works so hard to offer all of our residents a range of meaningful activities. She always has a smile and a kind word for staff and residents alike and we are all thrilled that she has been recognised in this way. It is a testament to her dedication to her role.
“People living with dementia can flourish with the right type of support through activities and that’s just what Leigh offers.”
Ferfoot provides residential dementia care for up to 52 people. It run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group, founded in 1994.
