Football fan Roy Webb, a well-known Devizes man, died on November 25 aged 72.

Mr Webb was born in Sheep Street, Devizes, and moved to The Avenues with his family in the 1950s.

He was one of seven boys and two girls, and leaves a sister and brother, as well as a son and daughter and grandchildren.

As a youngster he attended Southbroom School in Devizes and left at the age of 15 to work at local firm Chivers’ sawmills.

Later he worked at Devizes Borough Council as a labourer and as a self-employed window cleaner, before retiring at the age of 65.

He lived in Brickley Lane and had a strong interest in football, playing for most of the local teams as a youngster, including Devizes and Market Lavington.
