Italian restaurateur Giovanni Campanella is completely revamping his Dolcipani cafe in Old Swan Yard, Devizes, to offer a bigger menu.

The change came as his Isola Bella restaurant in Long Street closed on November 10 after his lease on the building came to an end. He had owned it for eight years.

Mr Campanella, who was the first to bring a continental-style coffee shop to Devizes with Dolcipani in 1993, said: “I see this as a fantastic opportunity to revamp Dolcipani and to make coffee drinking in Devizes a simple business once again. We will be keeping our prices as low as possible.

“Dolcipani will serve freshly cooked pasta, meat dishes, fish and beautiful salads along with a coffee or soft drink for around £8 at lunchtime. We will be using seasonal ingredients that will be locally sourced whenever possible.”

Old favourites such as Sicilian Sunshine ciabatta will return, the popular pizza slices will remain and sourdough Napoli bread will be available for sale. Dolcipani will also be opening on Sundays for the first time.

The coffee shop building has been gutted and the covers will almost double to about 40. Staff from Isola Bella will move to the cafe, with chef Liam Traveller running the kitchen.

Mr Campanella, who owns Franco’s Italian restaurant in the cellar below Dolcipani, said it should re-open at the beginning of December. He thanked everyone who has supported Isola Bella.
