Chippenham Scouts have completed a year-long Forester Activity Badge project by planting 105 trees.

Borough Lands gave the 10th Chippenham Scout Group permission to plant the saplings, donated by the Woodland Trust, on its land between Avenue La Fleche and Pewsham Way.

The Scouts used support canes, tree ties and spiral protectors after being shown how to plant and care for the young trees by Lackham College, while tree surgeon Paul Marshall taught them how to fell and trim them.

Scout leader Simon Brown said: “The tree planting went extremely well with the Scouts relishing the satisfaction of making a real difference as well as making their own mark within Chippenham.”

The group will revisit the site in the spring to see how their trees are doing.
