Ten-year-old Beatrice Watts, of Urchfont, who was awarded the director’s cup at this year’s Devizes Junior Eisteddfod, said she loves performing.
Beatrice, a pupil at St Margaret’s School, Calne, won four solo classes: piano solo (grade 4), folk song class (12 and under), music theatre solo class (ten and under) and solo mime class (11 and under). In addition she was a member of the St Margaret’s School Chamber Choir which excelled in the junior choirs competition and where she won her fifth medal.
The director’s cup is not awarded every year but Michael Johnson, eisteddfod director, felt Beatrice showed “exceptional promise”.
This was Beatrice’s second time competing in the eisteddfod. She said: “I love performing and I hope to bring a smile to people’s faces.”
