A care home for adults with disabilities is appealing to taxi firms to help them get residents to their Christmas party.

For many at Greathouse in Kington Langley, it will be the first disco they have ever been to.

All of their 25 residents, half of whom are aged under 35, are excited about the party booked for Sunday, December 1 at the Angel Hotel in Chippenham.

But they may have to set off early as six trips will be needed to get them all there if they use their own transport.

Activities assistant Julia Tuck said: “Most have never been to a proper party before. We’re really going all out, they’re going to be getting dressed up and getting their hair and make-up done.

“But it’s going to take six times for us to go back and forward if we rely on our two vehicles that only seat two or three with their wheelchairs. We wondered if there were any local agencies with wheelchair vehicles that may be able to help us out.”

She said she would like to thank the Angel Hotel for showing fabulous community spirit.

“The residents need to take carers with them but can’t afford to pay for another person so the Angel has come up with a really good price, and the disco man is doing it for free,” she said.

“And they’ve sorted different menus because some have nut allergies or are gluten intolerant.”

Any vehicle firms who are able to help can contact Greathouse on (01249) 750235.
