Renowned artist Joanna May met children at the primary school in her home village of Keevil last week to encourage them to create their own images of animals.

Ms May is well known for her animal paintings which raise money for wildlife conservation all over the world.

She went to Keevil Primary School last week to talk to pupils during their Art Week and inspire them to paint their favourite animals. The next day their artwork was put on display in an open exhibition.

Parents and friends were invited to see the pieces and make a donation to the Friends of Keevil School for a framed example of their child’s work.

Ms May said: “The children’s paintings were brilliant. They had obviously put a lot of thought and work into them and I hope they were encouraged to take both painting and wildlife conservation seriously.”
