A motorcycle rally which raised more than £3,000 for the Bath Royal United Hospital’s Forever Friends Appeal will be repeated next year.

Organiser, Corsham biker Mark Rowell, is hoping it becomes regular event.

He organised the ride, in which bikers stopped at checkpoints in Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire, after his wife Amanda was diagnosed with cancer in March last year. He plans an even bigger event next year.

He said: “After having first-hand experience of supporting my wife through breast cancer, we would like to give something back.”

A total of £3,063.01 was raised and Mr Rowell thank-ed all those who took part.

Next year’s ride is on September 20, across four checkpoints in the RUH’s catchment area, manned by marshals in fancy dress who will provide a barbecue and refreshments for the riders.
