Using the power of their imaginations, children enjoyed a roaring bonfire and fireworks to mark November 5 at The Rowdey Cow farm café and ice cream parlour in Rowde.

In the barn, Alison Rollinson, manager for Pyjama Drama in west Wiltshire, led children through songs about sparklers, games about fireworks and an improvised drama adventure that involved them preparing for a firework party: making toffee apples; wrapping up; learning how to stay safe; and looking after a frightened pet cat. Each child created their own firework display when the lights went off and their glow sticks took on the role of silent fireworks. It was finished off with firework crafts, made with glitter.

Mrs Rollinson said: “I thought that it would be a great place for a Pyjama Drama session especially as, here at the café, they can’t usually enjoy bonfire night because of all the animals. The session was really well-received by children and parents and I hope we can work with the Rowdey Cow more in future.”
