Vintage vehicle enthusiasts braved wet weather for their annual gathering at the Duke car park in Bratton last Saturday, with money raised going to the Poppy Appeal.

The Vintage Classic Vehicle Gathering, now in its third year, sees owners of classic cars, buses, vans, motorbikes and stationary engines come together to show off their prized possessions.

This year, vehicles taking part included a 1932 Bentley, a classic Cadillac and a Model T Ford,Vespa scooters and a Willys Army Jeep.

Mike Swabey, chairman of the Wiltshire Royal British Legion, attended, and proceeds from the event will not be known until this weekend. Event organiser John Drewett said: “It was a shame that the weather was a bit miserable.

“A lot of the people that have these vehicles don’t like taking them out when it’s raining, for obvious reasons, but we still had lots of people come along, and some from as far as Great Bedwyn.”
