A man from Corsham has been arrested after a three-car collision near the town hospitalised a mother and her two children yesterday.

The 20-year-old male was driving a blue Peugeot 306 when it overtook a silver Mazda MX5 on the A4 at 3.11pm, and collided with a green Ford Ka travelling towards Corsham.

The children were taken to the Bath RUH with minor injuries, while their mother suffered open fractures to her leg and wrist, and was taken to Frenchay Hospital near Bristol.

The driver of the Mazda, a 21 year old man from the Rudloe area, was uninjured.

The Peugeot driver was arrested for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The road was closed for 6 hours whilst officers from the Wiltshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Team commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
