Aspiring artist Daisy Babey has had her talents given the Royal stamp of approval after being shortlisted in the Post Office Christmas competition.

The five-year-old, who attends Rushall Primary School, entered the festive competition in the summer and came up with an Angel and Christmas tree design that impressed the judges.

This year the annual competition attracted nearly 240,000 entrants from across the UK and Daisy was among the 96 area runners-up.

She entered the completion through the school and has been given printed copies of the stamp she designed and a £100 gift voucher, while the school has also been awarded £100.

Headteacher Marion Harvey said: “We gave all of the children a chance to enter the competition. All those that wanted to take part started working on their designs at school and then took them home to finish.

“Daisy came up with the design herself and she was only four at the time, so it’s quite an achievement.

“We’re all very proud of her, we’re proud off all of the children because it’s the taking part that counts.

“We have never entered this competition before – we’ve done a lot with sport and writing, so we thought it would be nice to look at something artistic again.”

Daisy’s mum Sophie Wilson-Hebben, 23, of Avon Square, in Upavon, said: “We were really proud of her when we found out, we didn’t really believe it.

“She came up with the design herself and then we talked it through. I’m quite artistic too and she really loves drawing, that’s the thing she really loves to do. I was so impressed when I saw it and so was my partner, Luc Mole. It’s fantastic.”
