ITALIAN restaurateur Giovanni Campanella is revamping his Dolcipani café in Old Swan Yard, Devizes, to offer a bigger menu.

The change comes as Mr Campanella’s Isola Bella restaurant in Long Street closed on Sunday after its lease came to an end.

Mr Campanella, who is thought to have been the first to bring a continental style coffee shop to Devizes with Dolcipani in 1993, said: “I see this as a fantastic opportunity to revamp Dolcipani and to make coffee drinking in Devizes a simple business once again.

“We will keep our prices as low as possible.

“Dolcipani will serve freshly cooked pasta, meat dishes, fish and salads along with a coffee or soft drink for around £8 at lunchtime.

“We will use seasonal ingredients locally sourced whenever possible.”

In addition to the cooked food and salads, old favourites such as Sicilian Sunshine ciabatta will return, pizza slices will remain and sourdough Napoli bread will be available.

Dolcipani will also open on Sundays for the first time.

Staff from Isola Bella will move to the café with chef Liam Traveller running the kitchen.

Mr Campanella also owns Franco’s Italian restaurant in the cellar below Dolcipani, He added that Dolcipani is expected to re-open at the start of December.
