Mum Lorraine Billett aims to raise £2,000 for Cancer Research UK through a disco in support of her eldest daughter who is receiving treatment for the disease.

Mrs Billett, 67, a mum-of-four from Heddington, is being helped by one of her other daughters Miranda Aulman, 35, of Curzon Street, Calne, in organising the event at Bromham Social Centre on November 23.

They are being spurred on because of the bravery of Heidi Hudd, 42, from Bromham, who was diagnosed with breast cancer eight years ago and fought off the disease, only to be diagnosed with liver and bone cancer recently.

She is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Mrs Billett said: “She had it eight years ago and now it’s come back worse because it’s bone and liver cancer. She’s definitely doing as well as she can. We go every Tuesday for the chemotherapy.

“She’s very outgoing, she gets on with everyone. She really is full of life and she’s so strong.

“She doesn’t let it get her down. All of us are being very positive.”

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research.

As well as the disco, a raffle will be held offering the chance to win prizes including £100 for a spa day at Bowood and a £45 haircut from Laura Sheate in Melksham.

Mrs Billett said: “We have just got so many wonderful prizes. I’ve gone round all the shops and asked everyone and they have been so good. I have been overwhelmed.

“Dyson has given us their latest cleaner, which is worth just over £400, and we have so many others.

“We thought if we did it for Cancer Research, we would cover so many people.Everyone you speak to these days knows someone who has cancer. We feel very much that that’s where the funding is needed, in the research.”

The disco will take place from 7.30pm to midnight and tickets are £10. To book, call Mrs Billett on (01380) 859813 or Mrs Aulman on 07538 224397. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/miranda-aulman-bromham-bash-2013
