Devizes funeral directors John Stuart plans to open an office in the town centre.
The firm is based at Castle Farm, Hillworth Road, but wants to have a presence in the town centre and is planning to open in the former Ethnique Trading shop near the top of The Brittox.
Funeral director Paul McDonald said: “A lot of people know John Stuart but still don’t know where it is, it is tucked a bit out of the way.
“People have to register deaths at the Wiltshire Council office in Snuff Street, so if we are in the town centre it’s more convenient.”
The Castle Farm site, where the chapel of rest is, would remain.
The plans by John Stuart come a few weeks after D J Bewley funeral directors submitted a plan to open in a former dental surgery in New Park Street. The other funeral director in Devizes is Charles S.Winchcombe & Son.
