A primary school has been officially recognised for its three-year campaign to promote physical and mental wellbeing.
Sherston Primary School now has its sights set on achieving silver status after picking up a ‘Healthy Schools Plus’ award under the government funded initiative run by the NHS.
Healthy Schools coordinator Lara Farahar said: “It’s a long process to go through but it’s all worthwhile because it’s a lovely achievement to have at the school.”
Youngsters had to demonstrate a commitment to healthy living in three areas. The number of pupils bringing in a healthy lunch has almost doubled in two years.
Suzanne Price, the reception class teaching assistant, led the first aid element of the award, while a Chill Out Zone was built to provide a quiet area during breaks.
