The Rudloe Hall Hotel has been given a “quirky” makeover by celebrity restaurateur Marco Pierre White, with a look he promises will inspire conversation.

The 19th century hotel was bought by the chef last year and has now reopened under the new name of The Rudloe Arms.

The 40-bedroom hotel and restaurant, set in 14 acres of grounds off Leafy Lane, Corsham, has been extensively redesigned and furnished with antiques salvaged from across the country.

The main bar now features several large pieces of neon wall art taken from Blackpool Pleasure Beach, plus vintage pub games, while the dining and breakfast rooms have been adorned with artworks and photographs, including many of the proprietor.

Mr White owns nine Wheelers-branded restaurants across the country, including the Horse and Groom in Charlton and the Pear Tree Inn in Whitley, and Rudloe Hall was formally re-launched under the new name on Friday.

Mr White said: “I have always been an admirer and collector of things that amuse the eye. I now have a number of venues that can be home to my collections and I hope our guests will enjoy them.

“We wanted to change the name to make it sound more accessible, Rudloe Hall Hotel sounds too formal; it’s quirky, and less grand.

“I am not saying the new look is to everyone’s taste, but if you walk round there is going to be something you will like. It definitely inspires conversation.”

Timothy Brendish has been appointed as head chef, while Mr White’s long-time collaborator David Thornycroft is the new general manager.

Mr Thornycroft said: “We have a great team and we’ve all worked so hard with Marco over the past few months to put the heart and soul back into Rudloe. Our regular guests and locals have given us such fabulous support throughout the renovation.

“This hotel will suit everyone – it’s a great location and a popular wedding venue, but now it’s a busy restaurant, a vibrant corporate weekday hangout and a perfect weekend retreat for those wanting simple luxury and relaxation.”
