Youngsters at Urchfont Pre-school can play outside without getting wet thanks to a new outdoor classroom created at its home at the village primary school.

The new covered area was unveiled this week with £4,500 of funding provided by Aster Communities, the parish council and the scarecrow festival committee, as well as fundraising by the pre-school committee members and parents.

Sarah Lee, chairman of the pre-school committee, said: “The children can now go and play outside any time they want. We even have new play equipment out there, also bought from our fundraising.

“It is much lighter and larger than we were expecting and we are very pleased with it.”

Not only will the pre-school children benefit from it, but the village after-school club will meet there as well.
