Corsham author Paul David Holland has celebrated the release of the follow-up to his first published novel and the latest in a series of books about a fictional school.

St Cretien’s College, 2010-2011: The Storm Approaches is the second of Mr Holland’s three-part series about boarding school life, told through a series of letters, emails, memos and notices gathered by new teacher Henry Pukeman.

Mr Holland, who has spent 15 years in the teaching profession, had his debut novel St Cretien’s College, 2009-2010: The Henry Pukeman Files published in November last year.

The 40-year-old, who is writing the third installment, as well as a new thriller novel, says the stories are influenced by his experiences as a teacher.

Mr Holland, who lives in Corsham with wife Sara, said: “The stories are about the madness of school life, as they can be extraordinary places to work at times, with some larger than life characters.

“It is very much based on reality, but it’s a fictional story. The trilogy covers three academic years at St. Cretien’s College by compiling together letters, memos and emails, the sort of things that get put in a teacher’s pigeon hole.

“There is a story line and reoccurring characters, but you have to dig under the surface of all the correspondence.

“I have had a good reception to the stories so far and people like them because you can drop in and out of them.”

His novel is available on www.amazon.co.uk. Mr Holland has also set up a fictional website for the school at www.stcretiens.org.uk
