Bert Boniface, 83, died on October 12 after a long illness which he fought with his usual fortitude and patience.
Born in London, Mr Boniface and his second wife Pat married when they came to live in Chirton 16 years ago. He played an active role in several local organisations including as a governor of Chirton School, a member of both St John the Baptist Church and Urchfont Garden Club and a long-term volunteer at Devizes Stroke Club. He was also a member of the Chippenham Male Voice Choir and always enjoyed singing from a boy chorister to adulthood.
Mr Boniface lived life to the full and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, visiting theatres and concerts, singing solo and he got immense pleasure from his garden. He will be sadly missed by many friends and family, particularly for his great sense of humour.
A service of Thanksgiving will be arranged at St John the Baptist Church, Chirton.
Donations in his memory can be made to Dorothy House Hospice Care through John Stuart funeral directors, Devizes.
