Corsham's Olympic lion found himself with a new coat of many colours last week, as part of a guerilla overnight arts project.
The town’s High Street was ‘yarnbombed’ last Tuesday by Box artist Emma Leith, who covered the town centre with hand-made decorations she had produced with schoolchildren.
She said: “There were about five of us and it took about three hours to put it all up. One of my favourite parts are the little hearts we made, which I hung on the doors of as many independent shops as I could.”
Trees and shops in the High Street were decorated, along with the pillars outside the Methuen Arms, and the Lion statue in the Martingate Centre. The decorations are to stay in place until Sunday.
Corsham florist Fleur Van Heijningen said: “It’s something that would draw people into the High Street, and attract people into all the lovely shops as well.”
