One of the best-known bands of the 1960s will be performing in Devizes.

Bruce Hopkins, a businessman and singer from Patney, is bringing The Union Gap to the Corn Exchange on December 14.

Mr Hopkins has previously put on shows at the Corn Exchange headlined by Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich. This year they were unavailable due to touring commitments but they recommended The Union Gap.

The band’s most successful song in the UK was Young Girl, which went to number one in the singles chart in 1968. Lady Willpower is another of their famous hits.

Mr Hopkins said: “I went to see The Union Gap performing live and I met them. They were absolutely fantastic and I was blown away by their performance. They have never been to Devizes before. They are touring all the time and are playing three or four times a week. As well as their own songs they do great covers of sixties songs.”

Also performing at the Christmas 60s Dance Night are local artists Pete Lamb’s Heartbeats, Colette Cassin and Mr Hopkins.

Tickets are £18 and are available from Devizes Fine Kitchens in Northgate Street or by calling 01380 721772.
