DOZENS of members of the Screaming Eagles Living History Group will set off from Littlecoate House next week for the annual march to Aldbourne via Ramsbury.
Every October, members of the group don full combat uniform and make the pilgrimage to commemorate the thousands of American troops who passed through Wiltshire in the Second World War.
On Sunday, October 13, up to 30 members of the Screaming Eagles will retrace the footsteps of the famous Band of Brothers.
They will leave Littlecote House – where officers of the 101st Airborne Division were based – at 9.30am and arrive in the Square in Ramsbury by 10.30am. From there they will march to The Green in Aldbourne for lunch at around 12.15am.
This year the 15-mile round trip will be in aid of Children in Need and Pudsey bear will make an appearance.
The Screaming Eagles will be joined by other living history re-enactors, accompanied by Jeeps carrying up to four American veterans.
March organiser Captain Dave Allaway said: “The Screaming Eagles Living history group strives to accurately portray the 101st Airborne Division of the Second World War. We use our knowledge and authentic equipment to educate people what the US airborne troops did during the war.
“Littlecote House and the surrounding villages were alive between 1943 and 1945 with troops from the US Army and US Air Force.”
