Former army reservist Connor Richardson is creating a charity film for Help for Heroes and wants the Marlborough community to get involved.

The 22-year-old, of The Layby in West Kennett, was a reservist for four-and-a-half years and left four months ago to become a personal trainer.

He has written a film called Chosen that follows the life of protagonist Alex after he leaves the army. Mr Richardson is looking for people to help create it, from makeup artists to sponsors or anyone who can lend their land for a scene.

He said: “We want to involve the local community as much as possible. For example, if a landlord wanted to donate money we could film a scene in the pub.

“We’re looking for anyone who is keen to be involved; extras, media makeup artist, even if someone just has a car they’d like to see in the film.

“I know a lot of people who have been in the army and when they leave they’re a completely different person. A lot of people don’t understand things like post traumatic stress disorder so that’s why I want to raise money for Help for Heroes.”

Amateur actor Mr Richardson, who will play Alex, is hoping to premiere Chosen at Marlborough Town Hall in June 2014 and the money from ticket sales will be donated to the charity.

The bulk of filming will take place this weekend.

He said: “The rest of the filming will be done when we can fit it in. There are people involved from all over the place so we have to work round them.

“It’s mostly friends, friends of friends and people I work with involved but a lot of people have shown an interest. If this film goes well then hopefully it can be something we can do every year.”
