Two Wiltshire opticians are showing their support for the grand opening of Royal Wotton Bassett Rugby Club on Saturday.

Specsavers at High Street, Marlborough and Regent Street, Swindon have joined forces to sponsor the official opening of the new clubhouse, which coincides with the first game of the season.

Kicking things off with a procession through the High Street, which is to be lead by The Band of the Royal Corps of Signals at 11am, the Specsavers sponsored match day ball will be delivered by the R.E.M.E Parachute Display Team.

Paul Shimell, store director at Specsavers in Marlborough, said: "As a local rugby club, their official opening was something we wanted to support.

"There will be a huge amount going on during the day so please come down and join in the fun. It is also fitting to have such a strong military presence and our match ball delivered by parachute is sure to be spectacular."

Entry on the day will be £4 with under 16s going free. A male voice choir will perform throughout the event, there will be an army vehicle display, fairground rides and a traditional summer fete.
