Devizes Town Council is going to buy planters to deter parents of pupils at Southbroom Infants School from parking on the grass area at the front of the school.

The council wrote to the school to point out the problem of parents parking on part of The Green, owned by the authority, and an appeal was sent to parents in the school newsletter.

The council has now decided a physical barrier in the form of planters could be placed around the area.

At a planning committee meeting last week, Coun John Parker said: “We have got planters all over The Green. They look really attractive and having more of them in that area would solve the problem.”

The committee agreed to buy six planters for the area, as well as two for Albion Place in Sidmouth Street, at a total cost of £2,960.
