Lea brothers Cameron and Jacob Coutts discovered an ancient clay pipe earlier this month on a family holiday in Wales.
The boys, along with grandparents Mike and Janet Moody and aunt Rachel Moody, visited Chepstow and explored its castle.
Cameron, nine, and Jacob, seven, saw a clay pipe embedded in the ground, which they prised out and took into the office.
One of the staff had a look at it and said it could be of significant interest, so they photographed and recorded the location. The brothers, who attend Lea and Garsdon School, looked around further and found two stem parts that matched the pipe.
The clay pipe has been send to Chepstow Castle’s head office for evaluation, but is estimated to be about 200 years old.
Janet Moody said: “The boys were very excited to find it. They like history, especially knights and castles, which is why we were there.”
