Youngsters in Calne have collected £140,000 for the re-development of their town’s skate park.
A teenage skate park task group raised funds by bag packing at Sainsbury’s, organising a dress down day at John Bentley School, and by filling in forms for grants from local groups and firms.
The latest batch of cash came from Hills Waste Solutions, which allocated £50,000 towards the project via the Landfill Communities Fund.
The park, known as The Bowl, is already 20 years old and planning permission has been granted to place a new skate bowl next to the old one.
Plans for the facility at Station Road, Calne, are well under way and the town council is now seeking expressions of interest from companies who want to be included on a tender list for its construction.
