A Victorian fayre organised by Calne Rotary Club will raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Dorothy House Hospice and the RAF Benevolent Fund.

The event, at St Mary’s School from 3 to 7pm on Saturday, will offer stalls, crafts and prizes.

Calne mayor Mercy Baggs will draw tickets for the club’s summer raffle at 6pm. The first prize is £500.

Alec Deighton, secretary of the Rotary Club, hopes the event, combined with the raffle, will raise about £3,000 for the three charities.

He said: “This is my first year as a Rotarian. At the moment we have sold just over 2,500 raffle tickets.

“A lady who makes lace will dress up in Victorian lace and we will have some old bikes, the ones which were up at the Heddington and Stockley Steam Rally.

“Some people will be dressing up and it would be lovely if people wanted to come along in Victorian dress.”

The club has thanked butchers Walter Rose & Son, Edwin Giddings, the White Horse at Compton Bassett, the Foxham Inn, Calne garage services, and St Mary’s School Sports Centre for donating raffle prizes Tickets for the fayre are £1 for adults and they can claim a free ticket for the raffle.
