Bless This Child, an exhibition of Christening robes at St John’s Church, has been extended due to popular demand.

Organised by Long Street resident Rosemary Haw-thorne, it features about 100 items of robes, baby gowns and maternal wear from the past 200 years.

It was on for six days and due to finish on Sunday, but will be carrying on until tomorrow.

Mrs Hawthorne’s husband George said: “It’s been extended because of public demand. People have been to it and said their friends would want to come and see it.”

The exhibition is open from 10.30am to 6.30pm. Entry is free, but a souvenir brochure costs £2.50 and proceeds will go to Devizes Children’s Centre.
