Shoppers in Market Lavington have somewhere to rest their weary limbs thanks to a donation arising from essential electrical work.

Over winter a new electricity cable was laid through Market Lavington to ensure sufficient power for the new developments in the village and its neighbour Easterton. This led to some disruption along the crowded roads through the village.

As recompense, Scottish and Southern Electric (SSE), which commissioned the work, and Rob Burton Ltd, which carried it out, made a donation of £500 to help with an improvement project in the village.

A cast iron bench has been bought to go around the tree, and plants and compost for the brick planters Market Place.

The planters have been cleaned out and replanted by members and supporters of the youth club.

The bench was stored during winter. A plaque will be put on the planters to thank SSE, Rob Burton Ltd and the youth club.
