Pewsey’s sixth annual Music Festival, which takes place on Saturday, will be a real family occasion.

Organiser Liz Boden said: “This year’s festival is going to be a true celebration. Not only of quality, diverse music, but also of family and friendship.

“We’ve got groups celebrating birthdays from as young as 10 to 80. And lots of people in the village have family and friends coming from further afield to enjoy the day. Tickets have been selling to music fans across the UK.”

Advance ticket-holders have an additional reason to look forward to the day as, on arrival and presentation of ticket, they will be entered into a musical prize draw.

Prizes range from a taster lesson on one of the following: guitar with Patrick Randall, drums with Russ Wilson, piano with Kim Bott, violin with Tom Bott or voice (singing) with Kait Gray; to a CD of one of the main stage acts.

Pewsey Music Festival will also feature drum workshops, as well as sculpture workshops and other local arts and crafts demonstrations, including spinning.

A living statue of King Alfred will be on site from noon, having visited Pewsey in June to commemorate 100 years of his statue in the village and mark the summer solstice.

Mad Pete will be wowing the children with his magic show and balloon animals, and there will be an inflatable disco and inflatable assault course.

There will be a bar/beer tent including a selection of real ales and the pub adjacent to the site will also be open.

Various food stalls include Graham and Tina Thomson’s barbecue with sausages and burgers, falafel, Scotch eggs, and tabbouleh; wood-fired pizzas; and, in the evening, Indian food from Tale of Spice.

A mobile coffee bar will be selling a variety of proper coffee.

Tickets are £10 in advance available via the website where you can also listen to the bands: www.pewseymusicfestival.org Entry is free to children under 12.

The line-up: Festival opens at noon, with Jason Saraj, Becky Kinghorn and Will Sexton on the semi-acoustic stage, where other acts will feature throughout the day, including Half Nino, Tuesday Jammers, Mark Nelson, Will Brown, Billy Green and The Rockspert.
