There's a buzz around Marlborough thanks to the introduction of bee-friendly flowers in Lawrence Acre.
Work started last autumn when volunteers of Climate Pledge, a branch of Transit-ion Marlborough, started digging the patches after being given the go-ahead by Aster Housing Association, which owns the land.
Now summer has arrived the volunteers have been able to add some colour to the previously grassy verge.
Volunteer Jo Ripley said: “It’s full of foxgloves, evening primroses, lavender and poppies, so it looks beautiful as well as being good for biodiversity.
“I’ve been there to do some weeding and there are bees and other pollinating insects.
“When people saw what we were doing they would offer cuttings of plants and everything was donated, so there was no expense.”
After the success of the project, Climate Pledge aims to create more bee-friendly flower beds around the town.
