Queen Victoria’s underwear will be on display at an exhibition of Christening robes, baby gowns and maternal wear.
Fashion historian Rosemary Hawthorne, of Long Street, is holding the exhibition, which will feature clothes from the past 200 years.
Mrs Hawthorne, who is known as The Knicker Lady because of the shows she presents about the history of women’s undergarments, is holding the exhibition at St John’s Church, Devizes, from July 23 to 28, from 10.30am to 6.30pm.
There will be more than 50 exhibits, including a pair of Queen Victoria’s drawers dating back to about 1860 complete with a modestly embroidered Royal Cipher on the waistband.
Entry is free but money raised from the purchase of souvenir brochures will go to Devizes Children’s Centre.
