Just 18 months after launching, Aldbourne Band’s training band is celebrating success and has named cornet player Dan Smith most improved player.
It performed at the Pond Concerts last month and a crowd of more than 400 people were wowed by the performance.
On the day, the band’s retiring president presented nine-year old Dan with the Kerton Cup.
The youngster seems to be following in the footsteps of his parents – Carl and Clair – who both play for the highly ranked Flowers Band.
He said: “I was really surprised but very pleased to be chosen.”
The band is actively seeking new young musicians. To find out about joining, head along to the next concert on the village green in Aldbourne at 4pm on Sunday, August 4.
There will be raffle tickets on sale for a draw with prizes including a night at The Bell B&B for two people, £100 cash from West Street Motors and a Sunday Carvery for four at The Crown.
The Friends of Aldbourne Band will also be running a tea and cake stall on the village green for refreshments.
