A Poulshot pooch will soon be famous when she appears on a national TV advert tonight.

Fern, an eight-year-old English cocker spaniel, is one of 41 pets who have been chosen to appear on an advertisement run by Petplan insurance.

There were 29,000 pet entrants for the photo competition to feature in the advert. After making it to the final 100 as chosen by an independent panel of judges, it was then up to a public vote via Facebook to choose 41 pets.

Fern’s owner, Caroline Brailey, was delighted that Fern made it through and her photo will appear with the other winners in the advert which airs tonight between 8pm and 9pm on ITV during the ad breaks for The Zoo.

Mrs Brailey, who is Pewsey Community Area Manager at Wiltshire Council, took the photo of Fern in her garden.

She said: “It was a lovely day when I took the photo. Fern just looked so pretty with here striking colouring against the grass in the garden.”

Mrs Brailey has owned Fern since was was 11 weeks old and said of her: “She has got such a sweet nature. She tries to understand everything you say to her, she is really clever. She is beautiful to look at and has a very strong character.”

After premiering on TV, the advert will be hosted on Petplan’s UK Facebook page and the Petplan website.
