The family of nurse Sally Emery, who died in a collision on the A36, have described her as a bubbly and caring woman.

Mrs Emery, 44, of Cornbrash Rise, Hilperton, was killed when the Suzuki Alto she was driving collided head-on with a Chrysler Grand Voyager, near the Iford Manor turning, on June 24.

Husband Mark Emery, 47, and their children Natalie, 19, Charlotte, 16, and Samuel, 11, have been overwhelmed by the support they have been shown.

They have had more than 130 sympathy cards, and there is a book of condolence at Southbroom Surgery in Devizes, where Mrs Emery worked.

Natalie said: “The support we have received has been absolutely phenomenal and it has given us all amazing strength to know just how much she’ll be missed.

“Mum was a very loving, bubbly person, full of life and she was always willing to put someone else first.”

Mr and Mrs Emery both went to Devizes School, and were married in the town. They were due to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in October.

Mr Emery said: “I am not surprised by the response; she had a lot of friends and knew a lot of people. It’s still sinking in, but we’ve had to help each other through it.”

Originally from Sussex, Mrs Emery lived in Devizes and Westbury before the family moved to Trowbridge 11 years ago.

Daughter Charlotte was travelling with her mother and suffered a broken wrist in the accident.

An inquest into Mrs Emery’s death was opened and adjourned by the Avon and Somerset coroner on Tuesday.

Her funeral will be held at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in Devizes at 2pm on July 12. Her family have asked mourners to wear bright colours with donations in her memory to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
