Paralympic swimmer Stephanie Millward showed the determination that has made her a winner when she turned up at Holy Trinity School, Great Cheverell, on Friday just hours after a 5am training stint.

Miss Millward had only returned home late the night before after successfully taking part in an important gala in Sheffield.

The swimmer, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and won four golds and a bronze at the London Paralympics, said: “I am very tired but I couldn’t let down the children who would have been disappointed if I had not turned up.”

Miss Millward, who is an ambassador for Devizes charity Bag4Sport Foundation, showed off her medals and Olympic torch to the youngsters.

She said: “This is why I really enjoy being an ambassador for Bag4Sport. It gives me the opportunity to inspire young children to take part in physical activity and to strive to do their best.”

Miss Millward visited each class in turn so the children could all meet her.
