Sounds of soul, folk, blues and indie music will fill the air at the Fieldview Festival near Malmesbury in August.

Organisers of the charitable grass-roots festival announced their unique line-up this week, featuring the likes of electro-indie three piece Delphic, and bluesy folk trio Bear’s Den fresh from performing at the 02 Arena as the supporting band for Mumford and Sons.

Among the attractions at the seventh annual event in Little Somerford running from August 1-4 will be an array of activities for young and old, including metal workshops, Capoeira, solar panel building and yoga sessions.

Festival director and co-founder Dan Cameron said: “This year is just as exciting as all the others; we’ve got another bunch of great acts from all over the UK.

“The atmosphere at Fieldview has always been one of excitement.

“It’s very sociable and lots of fun. It’s a jolly old knees-up.”

The event will take place across four stages and tented areas following the theme of ‘The Fieldview Express’ where revellers will be taken on a journey to the Aztec, the 1920s, The Victorian village of olde and the Egyptian banzaar.

Fancy dress to represent each area is encouraged. The festival can also boast being carbon neutral for the first time, as it is run on bio fuels and solar power.

Mr Cameron, 26, said: "It’s always been a priority of ours to get to this position. It’s always been a goal of ours.

“It’s something we felt we could do to reduce our impact on the environment.”

Other acts performing at the festival include soul artist Jacob Banks, folk-infused slide guitarist Sam Green and the Midnight Heist, Parachute Youth, north London quartet Wolf Alice, Nimmo and the Gauntlets and Gentleman’s Dub Club.

Organisers are hoping for sunshine but say the show will go on whatever the weather.

Mr Cameron, who grew up in Little Somerford and now works in London, said: “We have to prepare for the worst but hopefully it will be nice, but if it rains then we will be having a party in the rain.

“We had quite a lot of rain last year on the Thursday, which wasn’t ideal; a lot of people got very wet but the rest of the weekend was great.

“All the other years we have been very lucky.”

Tickets cost £70 for the weekend, including camping.
