Members of the Chippenham-based Bentley Model Railway Group are putting the finishing touches to their plans for the Calne Summer Model Rail Show.

The exhibition takes place at the Calne Leisure Centre on the weekend of July 13 and 14.

The event is open from 10am to 5pm each day.

Admission costs £4.50 at the door with discounts available for senior citizens, children and families.

This is an extra exhibition which is being held due to the snow which disrupted the event in January. The annual Calne Model Rail Show normally attracts 2,000 visitors, but the bad weather six months ago kept this year's total down to 671. As roughly two-thirds of the people who usually come to the show missed out, an additional event is being held this month.

The organisers hope that a promise made in January doesn't come back to haunt them. People who came in January were offered free admission to the July show if any snow falls in Calne over the weekend.

The Snow Show, which is the unofficial title of the new exhibition, will feature 29 stands including 12 model railway layouts. For further information contact the exhibition manager, Geoff Endacott, on (01249) 657283, or visit the show web site at www.calnemrs.org.uk .
