A Calne project is hosting a special event to mark child safety week.

The Barnardo’s Children’s Centre is offering a quiz, gifts and special guests on Tuesday June 25 from 1pm to 3pm.

Based in Prince Charles Drive, the team will welcome staff from trading standards, the road safety team and community health.

Barnardo’s team leader Georgina Knappe said: “We’re offering a fun event but with a serious message about the simple steps which people can take to keep their children safe.

“Trading standards staff will be available to talk about the safety of children’s toys and play equipment while the road safety team will discuss the importance of car seats.

“We’ll also have a community nursery nurse who can speak to parents about their child’s development.

“Families will also be invited to take part in a fun quiz, with a free gift for everyone involved.”

The Barnardo’s children’s centre is managed on behalf of Wiltshire Council and provides free support and advice for parents and carers of children under five.

Activities include parenting programmes, breastfeeding support, cookery courses, first aid training and baby signing, as well as groups for dads, young parents and childminders.
