Organisers of the Wiltshire Steam and Vintage Rally are busy getting ready for the event at Rainscombe Park this weekend.

The rally, organised by the Wiltshire Agricultural Preservation Group, takes place tomorrow and Sunday from 10am to 5pm at the home of Robert and Lady Julia Hiscox in Oare.

Organiser Karen Giddings said: “People can expect really good ring exhibitions.

“We have a falconry display and a lot of the exhibitors use the ring for parades of steam engines, motorbikes and cars.

“Our rally is quite unique because we have huge fields of working areas with things that people probably won’t have seen before, like working plowing engines.

“Visitors can see older equipment moving and working, and there will be lots of things for people to buy, see and do.”

The rally will raise money for the Bobby Van Appeal and it is expected that more than 5,000 visitors will pass through the gates over the weekend.

Mrs Giddings said: “We haven’t set a fundraising target, we are just praying for good weather.

“Over the years we have raised about £30,000 for the Bobby Van Appeal."

Attractions include ferret racing, steam traction engines, cars, motorbikes and commercial vehicles, rural crafts and a bouncy castle.
